Program Description

Event Details

Fifty years ago, on the night of November 10, 1975, the 729-foot ore freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior, taking all 29 crew members with her. This haunting story remains a powerful piece of Michigan’s maritime history—thanks in large part to the work of author and maritime historian Fred Stonehouse. His book, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, is considered the definitive source on the subject.

We will watch the live virtual program together as Fred Stonehouse shares the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, its crew, and the enduring legacy of this Great Lakes tragedy.
