Soldiers and Tactics of the Revolutionary War- (Military History Academy)
This one works to explain the different types of soldiers on the Revolutionary War battlefield, focusing on the different roles, especially in the early part of the war, and then introducing the struggle George Washington had in trying to turn a bunch of wild frontiersmen with hearts of gold into a fighting force capable of fighting the British. I frame it as a way to explain the types of soldiers like someone would explain the positions of their favorite sports team so that they would understand what's happening. We focus mostly on the British "Regulars," "Grenadiers," and "Highlanders," as well as the American "Militia," "Regulars," and "light infantry". It concludes with a brief explanation of the Battle of Cowpens, as a great example of how the Americans came to terms with their own tactical weaknesses. We bring in the same artifacts as the Sword one, but they are featured less, instead focusing on the uniforms and firearms.
